Bookcover Design

Scool Project

The challenge was to create a layout that aroused people's interest in the book; meanwhile, the images on the cover should precisely present the story.

I decided to create illustrations for the book cover design because it is the best way to convey the sensitivity and emotion of literature. The story's main character, Michelle, is an Asian American. She's confused about her identity –– She can't define herself as a Korean or an American, so I drew a woman without a face to show her confusion. I also put some tiny objects in the illustration, like the Rose of Sharon, the Korean national flower, and traditional Korean food, which plays an essential part in the story.
